Our Web Design Process

We’ve designed and redesigned dozens of websites and have learned a lot about what works and what doesn’t. We’ve used this information to create a unique process to help guide customers through their project in a way that is efficient and effective. Some might even say enjoyable.
Step 1

Free Consultation & Discovery

We want to get to know you and your business. We feel that in order to design a site that accurately represents you, we need to dig deep into what makes you unique. During this initial phase, we’ll focus on learning everything we can about your brand.

  • What are your current challenges?
  • What sets you apart from competitors?
  • Who is your ideal customer or audience?
  • What are your goals?
  • What does success look like and what would that mean for you?

Unsure of the answers to those questions? Don’t worry, we have resources designed to help you uncover and articulate them.

Step 2

Project Blueprint

Once we’ve evaluated your project needs and desired outcomes, we’ll draft an in-depth project blueprint. This is a detailed plan of attack, including action steps, a timeline, and a supporting marketing approach.
Step 3

Content Creation & Visuals

Here’s a secret: most firms approach websites from the wrong direction. We’ve all seen amazing looking websites that set a company back plenty…yet they get almost zero traffic. We’ve also seen the sites that are somehow ranking first in Google, while desperately clinging to the 1980’s aesthetic. Though they might not be nice to look at, those sites are pumped full of relevant, helpful content aimed at a specific group of people. Content is king and starting with awesome content is the supreme difference maker.

Not sure how to create awesome content? We can help make sure your content is well drafted and focuses on the right subjects and keywords.

We’ll draft the layout of the site via wireframes, and make sure to nail down the site hierarchy and other elements that will affect the overall design of the site.

This is all managed through a secure online portal specifically created for you. Everything will be in one place.

Step 4

Design

At this point, we’ve taken the time to do a thorough job of understanding what makes you unique. We’ve discussed your goals and drafted content to support them, and we’ve laid out the basic look and feel of the site. Now we’ll make sure the design does justice to the message.

We’ll create a mockup of your new site’s homepage and one subpage so that you get an idea of what you can expect from the finished product. You will be able to get a sense of colors, text, graphics and the overall design. This is where your hard work ends, and we take the reins.

Step 5

Development

Once you’ve signed off on the design, we’ll start developing your site. This is done on our server to ensure nothing happens with your currently live site. You’ll have access as we push different rounds live to the development server. It may surprise you to learn that this is typically the quickest part of our projects, since the hard work is done on the front end.

We’ll test the site rigorously on 11 different devices, platforms, and browsers, so you can be sure your site looks good everywhere.

Step 6

Launch

When it’s time to launch, we’ll take care of all the details. This includes migrating hosts, dealing with redirects, and re-testing (yep – all 11 platforms, devices, and browsers) during the ‘soft-launch’ phase. After we’ve had some time to resolve any small issues, we recommend making a big announcement about your new site!
Step 7

Training & Documentation

A few weeks after the site goes live, we’ll sit down face to face (or over screenshare) and will train you on how to maintain and make updates to your site. You’ll also receive detailed documentation with screenshots and step by step instructions.
Step 8

Value Realization

We’re committed to your success. After a few weeks have gone by, we’ll check in to see how everything is going. We’ll want to make sure you’re not experiencing any problems, that you’re getting awesome feedback, your measurable goals are on the right track, and that you’re happy with the new site.
